The use of Social Media in schools.
In terms of initiatives that I would employ, first I would think collectively as a school we could bring in a guest speaker for grades 4 and up. An assembly can be held and the guest speaker can talk about issues with and the uses of social media. Secondly, I would look to provide similar setup for parents since they monitor students at home. I would look to get parents into the school and provide them more information of social media outlets on a more serious tone.
Within my classroom I would look to communicate and inform students about internet footprint and how that content stays online permanently. Lastly, I would look to get my students involved in a discussion about cyber bullying and how that it can occur through social media platforms. These are some of the strategies and initiatives that I feel should be employed to help and teach safe use of certain sites.
